The economic value of peony lies in its direct use. It primarily has medicinal and other uses.
First, medicinal uses:

The root of peony, known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as white peony, nourishes blood, regulates menstruation, softens the liver, and relieves pain. It has astringent properties and relieves muscle tension. It treats a variety of ailments, including irregular menstruation, abdominal pain during menstruation, metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, chest and rib pain, and dizziness caused by liver hyperactivity. However, it is important to note that peony roots contain veratrum, so follow your doctor's advice when using them medicinally.

Second, as a pesticide: Its root preparations can be used as pesticides, effectively controlling soybean aphids and wheat stem rust.
Third, the seeds can be used to extract oil, which can be used to make soap and mixed with paint for coatings. The roots contain approximately 20% starch, making them a raw material for toothpaste. The leaves contain 19.82% tannins, from which tannin extract can be extracted.
