Red Peony Fresh Cut Flowers

Red peony is highly cold-tolerant and can overwinter in open fields in northern my country. Deep loam soil is ideal for its growth, and moist, well-drained soil is ideal. However, waterlogging in winter can easily cause its fleshy roots to rot, so it is not suitable for cultivation in low-lying or saline-alkali soils. This variety prefers fertilizer, so the nursery should be deeply plowed and well-rotted manure should be applied. It thrives in sunny locations. Fresh-cut red peony flowers, with their large, showy blooms and abundant variety, are a staple in modern parks and flower beds. They are often planted in large patches in gardens, creating spectacular blooms. They can also be planted in strips along paths and roadsides, or as dwarf, creeping flowers at forest edges. Individual plants or small clumps are often planted to appreciate specific varieties and colors, or they can form entire specialized gardens (peony gardens). Fresh-cut red peony flowers are also an important cut flower, suitable for vases and baskets. Cutting buds just before they open and refrigerating them will keep them fresh for several months. Cut flower production primarily focuses on double-petaled varieties, as single-petaled flowers have a shorter vase-like shelf life. The ancients rated the red peony as the "flower minister", ranking after the peony ("flower king"); because its flowering period is relatively late, it is named "Palace Spring".
